Adkins receives prison sentence after violating probation conditions

A Bullhead City man was sentenced to prison Wednesday after admitting he committed new crimes constituting violation of his probation for a prior armed robbery conviction.

Bradley Richard Adkins, 22, was placed on five year’s probation for his involvement in a March, 2017 home invasion at a residence on Anna Circle.

Adkins and co-defendant Cory Edward Cummings, 20, accepted plea agreements for entering the home in an attempt to sell an iPad. Bullhead City Police said Adkins pepper-sprayed the victim when he refused to buy the device, thinking it had been stolen.

Police and prosecutors said Cummings stole the victim’s AR-15 rifle and pointed it in the face of a teenage girl who was instructed to sit down and be quiet. The suspects who fled with the rifle and a stolen handgun were later arrested and placed on probation after entering plea bargains.

Adkins admits he violated probation when he smoked marijuana and possessed small amounts of methamphetamine and heroin and drug paraphernalia when contacted by police inside a vehicle in the 2100 block of Clearwater Drive last July. The probation violations and new drug charges are resolved through agreements adopted Wednesday by Mohave County Court Commissioner Billy Sipe.

Judge Sipe imposed a modified resolution of the case and sent Adkins to the Arizona Department of Corrections for 5.5 years.
