LAKE HAVASU CITY, Ariz. – The juvenile who jumped into the water from the famous London Bridge in Lake Havasu City but did not resurface Tuesday has died in Nevada. The Lake Havasu City Police Department (LHCPD) said the deceased is a local 13-year-old boy.
Witnesses reported the teenager jumped about 40 feet into the water at about 8:52 a.m. Initial search efforts were unsuccessful until emergency rescue personnel recovered the unresponsive juvenile from the water about 20 minutes later. Lifesaving measures were implemented immediately as the boy was rushed to Havasu Regional Medical Center where he remained in critical condition before he was flown to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas.
Sergeant Kyle Ridgway said the LHCPD was notified early Wednesday morning that the juvenile had succumbed to his injuries.
“At this time, no additional details can be released as doing so could potentially compromise the integrity of the investigation,” Ridgway said. “Out of respect for the family and those affected, we respectfully request that their privacy be honored during this difficult time.”
