MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave College Corporate Education is helping new drivers build confidence and prepare for the Arizona permit and licensing process with its Pathway to Safe Driving pre-permit driver education courses, offered this summer in both Kingman and Bullhead City.
This summer’s driver education session features a new realistic driving simulator, allowing students to develop critical driving skills in a safe, controlled environment before getting behind the wheel. The simulator allows participants to practice real-world driving scenarios while reinforcing lessons learned in the classroom.
The new driving simulator offers students a highly realistic training experience with a variety of customizable driving conditions and scenarios. Students can practice driving in both daytime and nighttime settings, navigate different environments such as city streets, and experience a range of vehicle types including both automatic and manual transmission. The simulator also introduces real-world challenges such as pedestrians, rock slides and other unexpected road hazards, helping students build awareness, improve reaction time, and strengthen safe decision-making skills in a controlled environment.
Designed for teens, first-time drivers and anyone who wants a refresher, the program combines 20 hours of classroom instruction with simulator-based training. Students will learn vehicle control, defensive driving techniques, traffic laws, road conditions, emergency response, risk management and permit test preparation.
“Driving simulators provide students with the opportunity to practice real-world driving scenarios in a safe, controlled environment. By adding this technology to our Driver Education program, we’re helping new drivers build confidence, strengthen critical decision-making skills and better prepare for the responsibilities of driving before they get on the road,” said Janice Berkenheger, Corporate Education & Career Training Program Manager.
Classes begin July 6 and run from 6–8 p.m. The Kingman course will be held at the Mohave College Beale Street Center, Room 106, the Bullhead City course will take place at the Bullhead Campus, Building 500, Room 506.
The cost is $175, and registration is open through July 1.
