Dear Editor,
It seems wherever Trump goes these days he’s booed for being out of touch with Americans. So then is it any wonder there’s dispute over Trump’s celebration of our country’s 250th anniversary. As usual Trump wanted, as he called it, a “wild rally.” Which meant just more hate talk with baseless claims of election steals and whining and deflecting and blaming others for his inabilities and rather how great our country is. It’s all about how he’s made our country great.
While he shows reverence for our Lincoln National Mall where we go to pay respect and reflect he holds car races?! And UFC cage fights once banned from sports because it’s so violent Trump holds on the White House lawn!
Some call it irreverent and just plain tacky. As well discriminatory with invites to only those fit and trim, at Trump’s request … he who teeters on clinical obesity. Regardless it’s Trump’s birthday or the 4th of July turning our White House grounds into some kind of Las Vegas carnival with a garish octagon towering over it is nothing but shocking and sad.
Trump even allowing gambling some say this and all of it is illegal … but then what’s new. While half of our White House is gone we’re now told if Trump wants to bulldoze the Statue of Liberty he can do that too!
However one sees any of it for many it feels not only disrespectful but a threat to everything our country and White House and national monuments have stood for. Yet fans of Trump they love it, all of it.
And want to celebrate our country’s 250 anniversary in the “Trumpian way.” While others chose it solely be about our love and respect for our country’s founders and democracy and constitution and why we celebrate the 4th of July: Freedom from a monarchy and a tyrannical leader that our country seems to be teetering on today.
But with that said, something we all can agree on, Trump’s celebrations are certainly different than presidents before that brought the whole country together.
Yet this is what happens with a president they call the “divider-in-chief.” He’s turned everything into political divisiveness from whether if you chose to have three children or not, to sports to equal rights and religion and culture and what you even look like.
While living in an unsettling economy with concerns of shortages and wars. Still Trump promotes the reality TV show, “The Great American Road Trip,” starring U.S. Dept. of Transportation Sean Duffy. He’s traveling across country with his family showing Americans how great it is to just get in your car and go … when most are struggling to keep gas in their car just to get to and from work.
Once again reminding us just how out of touch this administration is. As is Trump’s Sec. of Treasury Scott Bessant, boasting just how great “Trump Economics” is doing for our country that seniors now own five to 10 or more homes (??) when they can barely afford the one home they own. And gave Gen Z and Millennials a slap saying they can’t get ahead because they don’t know how to budget their money.
Though the national job market isn’t keeping up with the cost of living and AI technology is stealing jobs like never before that Trump supports and promotes because he’s invested millions into AI. Whatever they’re telling us it isn’t squaring with most Americans.
But then its easy for Trump and his administration to say one thing when it’s another living in their gilded bubble and not in the real world.
Confusing boos for cheers and lies and failures for achievements and success and Trump thinking he can do whatever he wants with what is near and dear to us and our country. So this will be a two-party celebration, one done in Trump’s way and the other the American way.
