KINGMAN — Arizona’s Family 3TV shined bright light on Kingman and the Mother Road with live broadcasting from the Visitor’s Center Monday morning, April 20. The Phoenix television station is visiting Route 66 communities this week, in celebration of the historic highway’s 100th year anniversary.
“We’re starting here in Kingman and then we’re going to Seligman, then Williams and Flagstaff, and then Winslow. It’s going to be a great week,” said Good Morning Arizona anchor Scott Pasmore. He mixed and mingled with locals and toured the Visitor’s Center along with First Alert Weather anchor Holly Bock and reporter Gibby Parra.
“It’s fantastic to take the tie off and let the blood flow to the brain and get out and be around people,” Pasmore said. “I love getting out of the station and I also love to explore Arizona, and to do it through work is fantastic.”
Tourism Director Josh Noble said the parade of press this Centennial year is great promotion for Kingman and Route 66.
“In April this year we’ve had 11 different media groups coming in to write stories and tell the world about what Rt. 66 is,” Noble said. “Last week we had a corvette group come in. There were about 200 corvettes that came in to experience Route 66, the museum and the renovated downtown. That’s what we’re seeing.”
