Carmona found guilty in Havasu cocaine trial

KINGMAN – A mandatory prison term awaits a Lake Havasu City man convicted at his drug trial in Kingman. A Mohave County Superior Court jury deliberated more than two hours before returning verdicts in the two-day trial on April 8.

The defense conceded that Kevin Carmona, 35, was driving the vehicle from which one pound of cocaine was seized following a June 13, 2025 traffic stop in the vicinity of Highway 95 and Chenowith Drive. Attorney Greg McPhillips told the jury that Carmona had no idea the drugs were in a pink, fuzzy backpack on the backseat of the Toyota 4-runner.

While the panel acquitted Carmona of a paraphernalia charge, it convicted him of transportation of narcotic drugs for sale. Deputy Mohave County Attorney Philip Delgado said that Carmona faces a three- to 10-year prison term when sentenced May 6 by Judge Ryan Esplin.

Case co-defendant, Whitney Coleman, 35, Lake Havasu is serving a 13-month prison sentence after violating terms of her probation.
