KINGMAN – An eight-year prison term has been imposed for a Kingman man who faces the possibility of additional prosecution in a child pornography case. James Lummel, 63, was sentenced March 26 by Mohave County Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen.
Authorities said five digital files involving child pornography were found in Lummel’s desktop hard drive during a search of his home in the 3700 block of E. Butler last year. A trial jury returned a mixed bag of verdicts for five charges of sexual exploitation of a minor.
He was acquitted on one count and convicted of two others, while a hung jury was declared for the two others because the jury was unable to reach unanimous verdicts on those charges.
Jantzen ordered eight years prison, followed by probation for the two convictions. Deputy Mohave County Attorney Phillip Delgado requested more time to decide if he’ll seek another trial or attempt to reach a plea agreement to resolve the hung jury charges.
Jantzen set a second trial date for April 28, if necessary.
