LH Community Choir to honor America’s 250th birthday at Freedom Concert

LAKE HAVASU CITY — This summer, America will celebrate its two hundred and fiftieth birthday, but the Lake Havasu Community Choir will be honoring the semi quincentennial early with their upcoming Celebrating Freedom concert. Launched in the mid 1970s, the all-volunteer vocal ensemble now has quite a big following with locals attending their seasonal shows. The organization is nonprofit, and concerts are usually themed, entertaining attendees each year.

The group is always looking for newcomers to become members. Their weekly rehearsals take place every Tuesday from 5pm to 7pm in the choir room of Lake Havasu High School. At the freedom concert, the choir will be singing eight patriotic songs. Audience members can enjoy tunes like God Bless America and Unsung Heroes.

Additionally, the music charity will be performing the lyrical version of Taps, a song that is traditionally played at funerals for those who have served in the military. Gold Star mothers will also be part of the performances including photographs of former veterans we have lost along with their years of service. With the popularity of the group’s appearances, the shows sellout quickly.

Tickets are available now for cash only at $15 for adults, and $5 for students. Ticket purchases can be done in Lake Havasu at Scoops Homemade Ice Cream at 2014 McCulloch Blvd, and Soundbank Electronics at 1931 McCulloch Blvd N. Lake Havasu Community Choir’s Freedom Concert will be taking place on Sunday March 29 at 3pm at the Lake Havasu Performing Arts Center at 2675 Palo Verde Blvd s. Proceeds of all shows go towards scholarships for students wanting voice lessons or study music.
