Three Havasu residents arrested in seizure of cocaine, methamphetamine

LAKE HAVASU CITY — A young couple and an adult face prosecution following a mid-October seizure of cocaine and methamphetamine during a search of their apartment in the 2100 block of Palo Verde Boulevard N in Lake Havasu City. The suspects are identified as Jase Scheer, 21, Reina Caldera, 19, and Joseph Kerekes, 39.

A police report said an investigation of Scheer’s suspected drug dealing in the community prompted a warrant based search of the apartment on October 17. Officers reportedly seized a total of about 11.3 ounces of methamphetamine and about one-quarter ounce of cocaine.

The report indicated more than 50 pills and scales to weigh drugs were found during the search.

The trio of suspects provided a mix of contradictory statements when interviewed separately at the police station.

The police narrative indicated Scheer denied involvement in drug sales and said he only smoked marijuana. Caldera also said she only smoked pot, but she offered a number of other admissions.

Caldera reportedly told officers she was the dealer and that Scheer was unaware and not involved in drug sales. The narrative said she reported that she sold drugs for income since neither she nor Scheer were employed at the time.

Caldera reportedly told police that she would travel to Phoenix every three weeks or so, purchasing between 3.5-ounces and a pound of methamphetamine at a time. The report said she sold Kerekes drugs on occasion.

Kerekes, however, told investigators he did not purchase from Caldera but bought drugs from Scheer.

Scheer and Caldera were initially charged with possession of danger drugs and possession of cocaine, possession of both types of drugs for sale and possession of drug paraphernalia. Kerekes was charged with possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia and evidence tampering.
