GOLDEN VALLEY — A new thrift store has officially opened in Golden Valley that will benefit local veterans which was a decade in the making. The Camp Hope Thrift Store was made possible with the leadership of the Jerry Ambrose Veterans Council (JAVC) in partnership with many community organizations and volunteers.

Camp Hope offers clothing, household items, and various other unique things for purchase. All proceeds from the thrift shop will fund housing, outreach, and recovery programs for veterans in Mohave County. This vision was highlighted during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 4.
“We’re here to make sure that no veteran is forgotten, no hero is left without a home, and that every man and woman who wore the uniform knows that their community still stands behind them,” said Lonnie Wills, Executive Director of JAVC, during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Community organizations that contributed to Camp Hope include the American Legion, the Geo Group, and the VFW. Wills also thanked local churches and volunteers that chipped in.

Wills also promoted the Grand Reopening of a new Veterans Homeless Center next month. This event will showcase all of the things JAVC is working on, including housing and mental health programs, as well as Veterans Village—an effort to build 70 tiny homes for homeless veterans.
Camp Hope Thrift Store is located at 3395 N. Verde Rd. in Golden Valley. For more information, visit www.javc.org. You can also email info@javc.org or call 928-715-1244.
