Body found in box in desert near Kingman triggers murder investigation

KINGMAN — The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) is conducting a homicide investigation following the discovery of a body in a box east of Kingman. Deputies responded on September 5 to a report of a suspicious package in a wash at a remote desert area near Windmill Ranch Road.

“The reporting party indicated he owned the property and was driving around checking on things when he located the box and alerted law enforcement,” said MCSO public information specialist Anita Mortensen. “Another subject on scene indicated tht he had observed a vehicle near the wash with the trunk open the night prior, but it was dark outside, and he could not identify the vehicle.”

Detectives called to the scene confirmed a deceased female was in the box. Fingerprint analysis led to identification of the deceased as Carolyn Ann Bosher, 57, a transient of Las Vegas. Mortensen said Las Vegas Metro Police indicated that Bosher had been arrested in Las Vegas for indecent exposure on August 30, 6 days before her body was located in Arizona.

Mortensen said the MCSO and Las Vegas authorities are collaborating in an ongoing investigation, and no evidence indicated that Bosher was killed where her boxed body was located. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the MCSO (928-753-0753).
