It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roger Scott Sr. of Seligman, AZ formerly of Red Oak, VA who left us September 15, 2025, at the age of 85. Roger passed peacefully with his loving family beside him.
Born April 28, 1940, in Voluntown, CT, he was the son of Arthur and Yvonne Scott from Griswold, CT. Roger is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia, along with their four children- Roger (Jolene) Scott, Edward (Jessica) Scott, Christina Scott, and Yvonne (Aaron) Smith. He was a proud grandfather to 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Roger was one of eight children born to Authur and Yvonne and leaves behind his one remaining sibling, Russell (Jeanne) Scott of Voluntown, CT as well as many nieces and nephews, in particular his hunting buddy, Richard Gaudreau.
Roger will be remembered for his tremendous love of fishing and hunting. He truly was a jack of all trades and could fix anything he put his hands on. He enjoyed working on cars, carpentry, and masonry. Roger was always tinkering with some project and rarely sat still for long. He had a love for all country music and would listen for hours at a time. Although he seldom spoke of it, Roger was very proud of the time he served in the United States Army as a sharpshooter.
Roger never let his family down and always worked hard to provide for us. He worked for 26 years at the Safeway on Stockton Hill Rd. After they moved to Virginia, he worked another 15 years at the Food Lion in South Boston, VA.
Per Roger’s wishes there will be no services. Family and friends will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Sutton Memorial Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Dear Pat and family, I am truly sorry for your loss. I also lost my husband this year and my heart goes out to you. Your husband was such a sweet man. Just take it one day at a time. Give yourself time and the space to grieve. Take care of yourself. Much love, Nancy
