Kingman Area Youth Advisory Council outlines 2025-26 plans and celebrates early successes

KINGMAN — The Kingman Area Youth Advisory Council (KYAC) presented its goals for the 2025-26 school year at this week’s City Council meeting, where members of this year’s KYAC board were formally introduced to the Mayor and Council. The presentation highlighted both the projects already completed and the exciting work ahead.

Since beginning their term in July, KYAC members have hit the ground running. They joined Mayor Watkins and several Councilmembers at the League of Arizona Cities and Towns Conference last month, participating in the Parade of Flags and leadership workshops to strengthen their skills. The group also rolled up their sleeves for community service, taking part in a Sleep in Heavenly Peace bed build that prepared 13 beds for local children.  They also completed multiple park cleanups through their Adopt-a-Park program. In addition, they have been working to connect with their peers through social media, spotlighting members and raising awareness of the council’s role in the community.

Looking ahead, KYAC has committed to several initiatives that will directly benefit Kingman residents. Their efforts will include clothing and bedding drives, volunteering with local shelters, ongoing bed builds and deliveries, and youth outreach efforts. They are also exploring partnerships with local organizations and businesses, including a proposed project to clean up graffiti in the community. To expand their knowledge of City Operations and leadership, the youth council will also invite City department leaders to their meetings, offering members a behind-the-scenes look at how Kingman operates.

“These projects give us the opportunity to serve our community and make a real difference,” said KYAC Board Chair, Clementine Wilcox. “We’re excited about the year ahead and the partnerships we’re building to make it all possible.”

Community members and organizations interested in partnering with KYAC are encouraged to contact City Clerk Annie Meredith at 928-753-8335 for more information.
