BULLHEAD CITY — One teenager charged with committing a vehicular assault upon another in Bullhead City has entered a plea agreement that could result in a prison sentence. The plea deal for Abraham Salazar Espinoza was entered before Mohave County Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen on July 14.
Salazar Espinoza is convicted of aggravated assault involving a deadly weapon or dangerous instrument. Another aggravated assault count and a charge for failing to remain at the scene of an injury accident are dismissed.
Bullhead City police department public information officer Emily Fromelt said Salazar Espinoza, 18, drove to Rotary Parking on Balboa Drive on Jan. 2, seeking out a 15-year-old boy who had been in a previous fight with Salazar Espinoza’s younger brother.
Deputy Mohave County attorney Karolina Czaplinska said the 15-year old suffered relatively minor injuries when struck by the 2001 silver Nissan Exterra operated by Salazar Espinoza, who fled the scene.
Terms of the deal afford Salazar Espinoza the possibility of supervised probation. But he also could get up to 3.5 years in prison.
Sentencing is scheduled August 15.
