Possible commercial fire on Mesquite Avenue on Saturday

LAKE HAVASU CITY — At approximately 11:24 a.m., on Saturday, May 31, a possible commercial fire was reported by an occupant of an apartment building in the 2000 block of Mesquite Avenue. The occupant reported smoke in a first-floor hallway. The first arriving fire company reported a working kitchen fire in an apartment unit on the first floor.

Four engine companies, one truck company, a medic unit, and a Battalion Chief responded to the fire and gained control of the fire in approximately 17 minutes. All occupants of the two-story apartment complex were evacuated safely. There were no injuries to firefighters. LHCFD CERT responded with nine members to the fire to assist with Rehab duties for the firefighters. Crews remained on scene for an additional two and a half hours conducting salvage and overhaul operations. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

For further information, contact the on-duty Battalion Chief at (928) 486-3507 or Fire Administration at (928) 855-1141.
