BULLHEAD CITY — On Sunday, May 11, at approximately 4:15 p.m., emergency crews responded to a report of a possible drowning on the Colorado River near the 1200 block of Riverfront Drive.
Upon arrival, Battalion Chief McCabe reported that three 12-year-old children had been playing by the river when one of them, a 12-year-old boy who could not swim, was swept downriver. A nearby boat was able to locate the boy underwater and bring him to the surface. Bystanders immediately began CPR, which was performed for approximately two minutes.
Thanks to these rapid life-saving efforts, the child was alert and oriented when emergency crews arrived. He was transported to Western Arizona Regional Medical Center (WARMC) for further evaluation.
Though names are currently unconfirmed, those credited with the rescue include Alec Williams, Brea Chiocini, and current Fire Board Member John Martinolich.
Their quick thinking and bravery made a critical difference in saving this young boy’s life. The Bullhead City Fire Department wishes to thank them for their courage and service to the community.
