Kingman Veterans Treatment Court softball team defeats Lake Havasu in Spring Matchup

KINGMAN — The Kingman Veterans Treatment Court (VTC) softball team secured a decisive 15-5 victory over the Lake Havasu VTC team at Centennial Park on Saturday, April 26. The Kingman team, made up of Veterans Treatment Court staff, participants, alumni, and mentors, proudly avenged last year’s defeat and now leads the series 2-1. A rematch is scheduled for Fall 2025 in Lake Havasu.

Mayor Ken Watkins opened the event by throwing out the ceremonial first pitch, and local singer Stephanie Crompton performed the national anthem.  The Elks Lodge #468 also played a key role in supporting the event by hosting a BBQ for players and attendees. In addition to the day’s festivities, 286 pounds of canned food were collected for the Kingman Area Food Bank, demonstrating the strong spirit of community service.

“It was a great day on Saturday,” said Kingman City Magistrate and team manager Jeffrey Singer. “I am thankful for all those who helped put on this event and grateful for the community’s ongoing support of our Veterans.”

The goal of the Veterans Treatment Court is to restore Veterans to being successful, contributing members of the community. The Court focuses on ensuring that Veterans entering the criminal justice system make contact with specific programs to address the root causes of the behavior that resulted in the Veteran becoming a defendant in the criminal justice system. With the expertise of the VA, very real and underlying issues facing these Veterans can be addressed through specialized treatment programs offered by the VA and other Veterans assistance and mental health agencies.
