Cabrera gets 8 years for child pornography

KINGMAN – A Kingman man is the latest local defendant to be sent to prison for downloading child pornography. Nicholas Cabrera, 55, was convicted of three counts reduced to attempted sexual exploitation of a minor in a plea agreement.

The charges stem from a cyber tip and investigation that led to the discovery of minors engaged in sexual activity on two videos and an image found on Cabrera’s electronic devices, according to Deputy Mohave County Attorney Karolina Czaplinska.

Defense attorney Jake Baldridge argued for minimum punishment in the deal which required Superior Court Judge Lee Jantzen to impose a 5-10-year prison term. He said Cabrera is remorseful for the first felonies committed in his lifetime.

“I pleaded guilty because I wanted to take responsibility for what I did,” Cabrera said. “I’m so sorry.”

Branding the material downloaded by Cabrera as “disgusting”, Judge Jantzen ordered an 8-year prison term followed by lifetime probation. Dave Hawkins
