Havasu head-on claims two lives

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Two people were killed in a two-vehicle collision in Lake Havasu City. Police responded at about 2:29 p.m. on Jan. 1 to the incident on Highway 95 near the Dub Campbell Parkway.

“It was determined that a black Dodge truck and a semi-truck with a trailer had collided head-on,” said police spokesman Sergeant Kyle Ridgway. “The driver and passenger were pronounced deceased at the scene.”

Ridgway said the driver of the big rig was transported to Havasu Regional Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No one else was hurt.

“The Dodge was traveling south on SR 95 when, for reasons still under investigation, it veered off the roadway and then re-entered the northbound lane, resulting in the collision with the semi-truck,” Ridgway said.

The names of the victims are withheld pending notification of their kin.
