KINGMAN – A Kingman community outreach program administered by the Northern Lights Ministry is working to serve the homeless in innovative fashion. The Acts of Kindness endeavor is building a flatbed trailer that will deliver essential service to those in need.
“We’re building a mobile shower trailer. This mobile shower trailer’s going to have four shower stalls. It’s going to have one laundry unit. It will be mobile and it will go out to different locations where the homeless are,” said congregation member Robbie Stiles. “When we launch it there will be plenty of other people coming with us.”
Stiles said at least five dozen people will deploy along with the unit once the mobile trailer begins serving the homeless early next year.
“I think it’s going to be great. I think it’s much needed in this town,” said congregation member Nicole Pethers. “We’re in contact with a lot of people that want to give back, people who can do haircuts, food as well, and providing clothing, blankets and what not.”
Stiles expressed gratitude to the GEO private prison, where inmates are working to complete plumbing features for the shower units. He said the goal is to use the trailer about three times each week once the program is established.
