KINGMAN, Ariz. – A big celebration of Route 66 was held in Lewis Kingman Park Friday and Saturday, Oct. 16 and 17, honoring Main Street of America, also known as the Mother Road. Sights and sounds were equivalent to what one would see at a county fair. Kingman went all out to celebrate “the Heart of Kingman” and make it a celebration that would be remembered for years to come.

Leah Stagg, Mohave County Historical Society, summed the road up nicely for Kingmanites after the screening of Route 66: The Main Street of America.
“The food is great and the music is good,” said Cloe Voight Saturday night as she sat with her friend Tori Encinas eating their food and listening to the band.
“It’s really nice,” stated Rick Schmidt; his friend Katrina Keller chimed in, “the layout is nice, how it’s set up.”

The girl band from Japan, Bentenya, loved it.
“It feels like home,” said Susie through interpreter Hiroshi Kono. “Everyone smiles. Feels like home.”
Kimino, added, “We were happy to perform with the band. The singer came down and danced with the audience while we performed Route 66, you know, the famous song with the band.”
