New Beginnings Fellowship to have new digs

KINGMAN – The New Beginnings Fellowship is eager to develop a new church property in Kingman. A Conditional Use Permit for the project was approved during the Aug. 14 meeting of the Kingman City Planning and Zoning Commission.

The church is planned on a 3.15-acre parcel at the southwest corner of Riata Valley Road and Western Avenue.

“There’s some vacant property adjacent to the site to the west and to the south. There’s also an assisted living facility to the south, an auto dealership to the south and single-family residential uses to the east and north,” said senior city planner Amy Patze. She told commissioners no formal objections have been lodged but that some questions were posed during two community meetings.

“There were concerns regarding parking and the right of way, the number of signs that would be located at the site and whether or not there would be bells, chimes or loudspeakers,” Patze said.

Pastor Frank Casey Gordon said the church intends to be a good neighbor.

“The answer is no to the chimes or church bells. The signs are going to be very simple. We’re not going to have anything glitzy, anything Vegas-like. And we want to answer them that we are not a new fly-by-night body of believers,” Gordon said. He said the congregation currently includes about 130 people and that two buildings totaling more than 17,000 sq. ft. will accommodate 200 church members.

“New Beginnings Fellowship is a Christ-centered, Bible-based church. Theologically, we’re very conservative, I’ll say in a way that I think is healthy. We hold to God’s truth,” the pastor said. “We’re very excited with what we have planned for this property and for the community.”
