Kingman Youth Advisory Council accepting applications

KINGMAN – The City of Kingman is now accepting applications for the newly formed Kingman Youth Advisory Council (KYAC). After receiving unanimous Council support last month, the staff has been collaborating with KYAC Chairperson Sophia Meredith to finalize the application process. They have also been meeting with local high schools and have created a page on the City’s website to provide additional information to interested students.

“It’s really exciting to see this project coming together. The principals I’ve met with have been very supportive and encouraging. They’re also enthusiastic about the opportunities this provides for their students,” said Sophia Meredith.

The application is currently available on the City of Kingman website as well as from the school offices. Applications will be accepted until August 30th. After this date, they will be reviewed and the students will be selected.

City Manager Tim Walsh stated, “There are some outstanding students in this community, and I am looking forward to getting to know them and hearing their ideas. As someone who grew up here and returned after college, it is important to me to see more of our young people come back and become the next generation of leaders we need.”
