KINGMAN – Crews have held the Element Fire to 5,364 acres about 12 miles northwest of Kingman. Wildfire managers hope to begin winding down the battle for control of the fire sparked by lightning on Aug. 6 as containment has increased to 31%.
The Bureau of Land Management said 166 personnel continued suppression efforts, along with engines, water tenders and a helicopter.
A number of properties in the Vock Canyon area remained in “Ready” status, should evacuation orders become necessary. “Fire managers are asking for the public’s assistance by avoiding the area to allow crews and resources to access the fire,” the BLM said.
“Fire crews continue working on hotspots in the northwest corner of the fire,” the agency reported Monday morning. “The fire will continue to be monitored as demobilization begins today.”
