GOHS awards granted

BULLHEAD CITY – The Arizona Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS) awarded the Bullhead City Police Department grants in the amount of $20,946 for DUI enforcement and $25,002 for traffic enforcement.
The grants primarily fund overtime for officers to conduct targeted DUI and traffic enforcement but funds from these awards also funded a traffic cloud subscription that supports the existing speed display sign program.
“I want to take this opportunity to thank the membership of the Bullhead City Police Department for their dedicated work in DUI apprehension and traffic enforcement. Supporting these programs requires a great deal of commitment from our entire organization and they have not hesitated to step up. The effort we have put into making the most of these grant awards is the very reason we continue to see generous grant awards coming from Director Torrez and his staff at GOHS year after year,” said Traffic Section Supervisor Sergeant Eddie Espinoza. “We have seen proactive apprehension of impaired drivers and proactive enforcement of traffic violations reduce collisions, so we know our effort is making a difference. These grants will help us ensure funding does not interfere with our continued efforts to stop impaired drivers, prevent collisions, and make Bullhead City roadways safer.”
The grants were effective October 1, 2023, and cover activities through September 30, 2024.
