Commissioner interviews begin

MOHAVE COUNTY – The Special Judicial Officer Selection Commission has invited 4 of the 7 applicants to interview for Mohave County Court Commissioner. The bench seat was vacated last month when Megan McCoy was promoted to Superior Court Judge in place of the Honorable Charles Gurtler who retired June 1.

The 4 applicants have been invited to interview Monday with panel member Judges Lee Jantzen and Rick Lambert, Attorney Bryan Whitney, County Supervisor Jean Bishop, and Kingman resident Becky Fawson.

Superior Court Administrator Kip Anderson said the Commission will likely recommend one or two of the contenders for potential appointment by Presiding Judge Steve Moss. Anderson said citizens will have one week to offer comment on the nominees prior to the Moss selection.

Moss has said he’ll finalize case load assignments for the local judiciary once the Commissioner slot is filled.
