Man drowns despite life-saving efforts

LAKE MEAD – The National Park Service reports the death of a male adult who was swimming at Lake Mead. Spokeswoman Carrie Vanover said the man was swimming after a raft when he slipped under the water at Boulder Beach late Tuesday afternoon.

Vanover said bystanders pulled the man out of the water. She said CPR efforts failed and the man was pronounced dead.

The name of the victim is withheld pending notification of kin. Cause of death will be determined by the Clark County Coroner’s office.
