Angius takes gun rights fight to Prescott

MOHAVE COUNTY – A Second Amendment Sanctuary declaration in support of constitutionally protected gun rights by Mohave County last November is sending ripples across the state. Approval of a resolution by the Mohave County Board of Supervisors is prompting consideration in other jurisdictions after drawing considerable press attention and publicity. District 2 Supervisor Hildy Angius visited Prescott last Thursday, January 2 where the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors was to consider a proclamation that was not as bold as Mohave County’s resolution. Retired Chief Justice of the Arizona Supreme Court, the Hon. Frank X. Gordon Jr. passed away on January 6, 2020 at the Beatitudes Retirement Community in Phoenix where he lived with his wife Joan. Frank passed away 3 days before his 91st birthday. Frank was an only child, born to Frank X. Gordon and Lucille (Gburek) Gordon on January 9, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois. Coffin promoted to sergeant

The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) has announced the promotion of Dave Coffin to the rank of sergeant. Coffin is recognized as a valuable member of the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office. He came to MCSO in June, 2018 with 22 years of prior law enforcement experience. After exceeding his duties as a deputy, Coffin was selected for a transfer to the Detective Division in February, 2019. He has demonstrated that his knowledge and experience will help him excel as a supervisor.

BLM completes recreational improvements along the Colorado River

LAKE HAVASU CITY – The Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM) Lake Havasu Field Office has completed a two-month improvement project at Bass Point Day Use Area to remodel an informational kiosk, repair fence posts and cable, paint and repair the vault toilet, remove overgrown vegetation, and lay gravel in the parking area. The maintenance staff also posted new educational signage to improve the visitor’s experience. The recreation area will be available for public use starting January 8. LAKE HAVASU CITY – A free safety presentation for older adults is offered on Thursday, January 16, at the Havasu Regional Medical Center Learning Center, located at 1785 McCulloch Boulevard North. Local group raising funds to reduce cat population

BULLHEAD CITY – We Care For Animals, a local trap, neuter, return organization, is raising funds for needed medical equipment to provide ongoing spay and neuter services for community cats. The organization has been working with Midwestern University Veterinarian College to provide free spay and neutering services to colony caregivers via a mobile clinic but unfortunately, the University is not able to bring the mobile clinic to the area any longer due to mechanical issues with their vehicle.
