Sweetheart dance slated

KINGMAN – The Kathryn Heidenreich Adult Center (KHAC) will host a Sweetheart Dance on Saturday, Feb. 15, from 1 to 3 p.m. The Adult Jam Band will be playing music, and there will be dancing, food and fun. The menu includes meat and cheese rollups, avocado veggie rollups, ambrosia salad, fruit, relish, and vegetable trays. Dessert will be provided by White Cliffs Senior Living. A $6.50 donation assists with center programs. KHAC is located at 1776 Airway Ave., 928-757-2778.

The public is asked to plan ahead when traveling on McCulloch Boulevard, between Capri Boulevard and Lake Havasu Avenue, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., as temporary closures are in place at this time. KINGMAN – The Kathryn Heidenreich Adult Center (KHAC) monthly movie night will be held Friday, Feb. 28 beginning at 6 p.m. This month’s featured movie will be Key Largo from 1948, feature Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall and Edward Robinson. Steven Conn will provide historical and behind the scenes commentary before the movie starts. Family and friends are welcome; popcorn and snacks will be available. Discarded meth-filled suitcase scattered over I-40

KINGMAN – Authorities say pounds of illegal drugs were scattered along Interstate 40 after a Mohave County Sheriff’s deputy tried to stop a black sedan two miles east of Kingman for an alleged lane violation Thursday, January 23. Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said occupants tossed two suitcases from the passenger side of the eastbound vehicle. “One of the bags hit the ground and broke open, causing a cloud of white powder to be strewn across the interstate,” a news release stated. “Deputies at that time believed the subjects had thrown a large amount of drugs from the vehicle.” Mortensen said…

Bullhead City now a Second Amendment Sanctuary city

BULLHEAD CITY – A unanimous January 21 vote by the Bullhead City Council declares the Colorado River community a Second Amendment Sanctuary City. Passage of a resolution pledges commitment in support of gun rights and resistance to any attempt by the state or federal government to erode them in any way. The city of Needles in California passed a similar resolution last July while the Mohave County Board of Supervisors did the same last November. The Board of Supervisors in Yavapai County is expected to consider a Second Amendment support declaration next month. Dave Hawkins
