11th annual golf tourney to benefit Kiwanis

LAKE HAVASU CITY – Kiwanis of Lake Havasu will be swinging in their charitable ways into September at this year’s Krazy “5 Iron” Golf Tournament. The nonprofit was founded upon creating public events that the community can participate in showing that, “a little help” still goes a long way.

Kiwanis has a solid reputation for building playgrounds, stocking libraries, and raising funds for backpacks to be filled with school supplies. The nonprofit’s last sporty fundraiser took place this past July with their vintage cartoon bowling tournament.

Members of the organization came together dressed up as their favorite historic animated characters to participate in team games and raise more funds to help those in need. Their five-iron annual tournament will mark their eleventh season, and remains to be one of the nonprofit’s largest fundraising games.

This year’s golf game will be a  four person scramble where players are only allowed to use their five iron. No hybrids are allowed during the games.

The members of Kiwanis want to warn all players to always remain on the lookout for those wacky holes and poles. Along with the event’s 50/50 drawing, there will also be cash prizes available for  first and second place winners.

Entry fees are $100 per person. Ticket purchases include a golf cart, lunch, and green fees.

You can find out more information on how to become a player in the tournament by contacting Kiwanis Director Lisa Theophilus at kiwanistoyslhc@gmail.com or Kiwanis Director Fred Robbins at fredrobbins@gmail.com. The five-iron golf tournament will be taking place on Saturday September 14.

Check ins will begin at 7 a.m. followed by a 8 a.m. shotgun start at the Lake Havasu Golf Club. Proceeds of the golf tournament will go to not just children in need, but for adults needing medical care, food, or resources during disaster relief situations.
