Dear Editor,
What has become of all the real Democrats? I was raised in a loving and close knit Democrat family and have many Democrat friends, so I recognize and respect the true Democrat. That is the God-fearing, productive person who works hard to provide for his or her family. The man or woman head of household who grinds away at the task of making the world a better place for their kids. This is the person who may or may not be a property owner, but respects the property of others. This is the person who stands, with hand over heart, when the flag of our nation passes by. The same person who will recite the Pledge of Allegiance and who can and will proudly sing our National Anthem.
As a Republican now, I’d like to know, where did all these good people go? Did they simply evaporate, or have they been shunted aside and ignored by the National Party that is supposed to represent them and their needs and interests?
What I see is that the Democrat Party contains no real, true Democrats. Those of the Democrat National Congress have callously abandoned their base in favor of serving the oligarchs now in control of our country. Who are they? The lifelong politician, the sold out, hack Senator or Representative who is so deeply entrenched in battling for their power and position and the huge money that comes with those distinctions. These politicos are the same ones who swore a sacred oath to “protect and defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic” while looking to the good of their constituents. They have blatantly and treacherously violated that oath. They, themselves, are the domestic enemy.
Those are the people who are so hell-bent on preserving their own interests and looking to their own private future that they have cast off any feeling or sense of kinship they are supposed to have in their hearts for the “common man”.
Who is the common man? The good “man-on-the-street”, the Pastor of the church of their choice, the postal carrier and the bus driver and the mill worker and the store clerk. Those are the folks who have been belittled, abandoned and spat upon by their own Representatives and Senators.
There are millions of true Democrats in our country who pray for all good things, but who are denied their dreams because of the greed and corruption in high places. They are now puzzling over just what has happened to their Party.
Our country is being torn apart by those who stand to benefit from fear, chaos and the terrors being inflamed twenty four hours a day by the sewer of social media and the talking heads on television.
It used to be that the folks in Washington referred to “my colleague across the aisle”. That is almost never heard any more.
We of the common herd manage to get along well, with neighborhood coffees and birthday parties and we all rush to help when a neighbor needs help. We almost never ask and mostly never know a person’s political affiliation and for the most part don’t care.
Those elites in high places have, for their own purposes, divided us all, but have damaged their own constituents to the point that true Democrats are wondering why they have been so cruelly abandoned. They seem to be ashamed and afraid at the same time.
Once again, where did all the Democrats go after being so rudely dumped by the Party supposed to represent them?
