KINGMAN, Ariz. – A Kingman resident faces possible prison time for repeatedly punching a teenager. Samuel Van Pelt, 20, would be convicted of aggravated assault under terms of the plea deal entered before Judge Billy Sipe on Sept. 22.
Deputy Mohave County Attorney Leah Nelson said Van Pelt entered the 18-year-old victim’s residence in the 4000 block of Arizona Street on Aug. 21. She said the teen suffered multiple blows to the head and body.
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office said Van Pelt was upset regarding the way the victim had been treating one of Van Pelt’s relatives, a teenage female.
Van Pelt could be reinstated on probation for a previous assault conviction when sentenced Oct. 21. Judge Sipe can also send him to prison for up to 3.5 years.
