Two arrested at Kingman Airport

Joe White and David Duran

KINGMAN – The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) said the Kingman Airport Industrial Park was placed in a precautionary lockdown due to a disturbance at an unidentified business in the 4600 block of E. Finance Way. No one was hurt in the incident, apparently sparked by the termination of an employee.

MCSO spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said deputies responding at 7:11 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16 learned that Joe White, 62, allegedly pulled a knife from his vehicle and tried to fight the employee who had escorted him off the premises. She said White stabbed a sign with the knife before leaving.

Mortensen said White called David Duran at the business, advising that he was retrieving a gun to return to shoot the employee who walked him off the job. She said Duran, 35, was arrested for hindering prosecution when deputies learned he notified White that authorities were looking for him.

Mortensen said a pat down search was conducted after a records check revealed him to be a prohibited possessor named in an outstanding arrest warrant.

“Duran was found to have a 9mm magazine on his person,” Mortensen said. “Deputies were informed that Duran had a backpack inside the business, and deputies located a loaded 9mm handgun, over 250 rounds of ammunition and a large knife inside the bag.”

Duran was jailed for a weapons offense while White was also booked into the Adult Detention Center for disorderly conduct and criminal damage.
