Checking the Boxes

It seems like a fairy tale, doesn’t it?

A God who created all that there is including you and me looks down upon our lack of moral character and decides the only hope is to inject himself into humanity to save it from itself.

The cost of this effort? His son. Because moral failing is an anathema to all that is good, and we are objectively not good by nature.

God’s son’s death is the sentence for our high crimes and misdemeanors writ large.

And like us, Jesus, God’s son, comes as a child—a newborn with all the necessities for care and provision.

Can I trust You?

I am too trusting.

Twice in the last two weeks I have been the victim of burglary. Both times it was my parked car at home during the wee hours of the night.

This is how old I am; I remember leaving my front door open at night with just the screen door closed. The main reason was air flow as most of the homes in my area had evaporative cooling and, realistically, there was little threat of invasion.

Now I am faced with rising crime and security issues.

Regarding theft, it is of interest that stealing made the list of “Thou shalt nots” in the bible.

Psyched-Out

There are only 85 days left.

Now some of you are counting on your fingers and toes and have determined I must be wrong; there are 62 days.

Nope it’s 85 and how do I know?  Because I am not talking about the presidential election. I am thinking of Thanksgiving.

The irony is not lost on me in what may be the most divided time in recent American history politically, we will collectively pause and give thanks for friends, family, and hopefully God.
