Mohave Community College Men’s Soccer kicks off inaugural regular season

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College Men’s Soccer opened regular-season play on Thursday, Aug. 22, with the inaugural squad falling 3-1 to Wyoming’s Northwest College. Men’s Head Coach Camilo Valencia says the Bighorns performed well in the first official outing of the season, adding that recovery will be the focus leading up to the next matchup.

“It was a proud moment to finally see our team on the field for a season game after a long wait,” Valencia says.

MCC Nursing student helps peers in Nursing Assisting program

MOHAVE COUNTY – Most students can’t wait for summer to get a break from school, but Rowan Gerdes, a registered nursing student, had other plans.

Gerdes volunteered to help nursing faculty with the nursing assistant students. After going through the semester, receiving help from his instructors, Gerdes felt the need to repay them for all the hours they spent together making sure he knew the learning material.

MCC students start fall 2024 semester, enrollment up

MOHAVE COUNTY – Students are back on campus! Mohave Community College started its fall semester Monday, Aug. 19 on all campuses with students returning to finish their degrees or certificates. The College is also welcoming new students who have decided to start their educational journey as an MCC Bighorn.

Enrollment is up by roughly 16% with over 4,500 students taking classes across all campuses and online.

Pub Crawl to benefit MCC Foundation

KINGMAN– Mohave Community College (MCC) Foundation is hosting a Back to School Pub Crawl on Saturday, Aug. 24. Tickets are $20 per person, and can be purchased at helpmohavestudents.com. The event will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. in downtown Kingman.

MCC Kingman Campus student awarded the Empowering Diversity Scholarship

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave Community College student Faith Ladson has been awarded the Empowering Diversity Scholarship from the Fiesta Bowl Organization and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona. She was awarded $5,500 to go towards continuing her education. Of the 15 post-secondary scholarship recipients, Ladson was the only student awarded the scholarship that is attending a community college in Arizona.
