Public invited to observe ballot tabulation equipment testing

KINGMAN – A test of the ballot tabulation equipment and programs for the July 30 Mohave County Primary Election will take place on June 27 at 9 a.m. by the Mohave County Elections Department. A separate test will also be conducted by the Arizona Secretary of State’s Office at 2:35 p.m. on that date. The location of the tests is the Mohave County Election Department, 700 W. Beale, Kingman. It will be open to the press and the public.

Firefighters extinguished multiple brush fires near Kingman

KINGMAN – Personnel from multiple agencies battled a number of brush fires Monday morning. The Kingman Fire Department (KFD) reports crews responded at 8:27 a.m. to the brush blazes in the area of Historic Route 66 and Interstate 40.

“Five fires covering approximately 15 acres were extinguished, causing a temporary closure of Route 66 for about two hours,” a news release said.

Arrest made in fatal traffic crash

KINGMAN – Investigation of a traffic accident that claimed the life of a local teenager late last year has led to the arrest of a young Kingman man. Deputy Police Chief Joel Freed said Dalin Penrod, 20, was booked into the Mohave County Adult Detention Facility on April 11 on a charge of causing death by moving violation. Lacey Lynn Gale, 19, Kingman, was fatally injured when her vehicle was struck by Penrod’s vehicle at about 8:10 p.m. on Dec. 13. For a variety of reasons, this age group has largely checked-out of the local church and is likely to stay checked-out for a lifetime unless something changes.  In a recent study conducted by Lifeway Research, young adults reported at least four categories for lessened church attendance: 1.
