Sprinkler puts out Havasu garage fire

LAKE HAVASU CITY — A safety feature put out a garage fire in Lake Havasu City. Fire department personnel responded at 1:38 p.m. Wednesday to the incident in the 1200 block of Tanqueray Drive.

A 12-year-old in the home made a safe exit when alerted by the smell of smoke emanating from the garage.

“The first arriving fire company found light smoke showing with water coming from under the closed garage door,” a news release said.  “Fire crews found that a fire occurred within the garage area of the house and was extinguished with the activation of a single fire sprinkler head.”

Four engine companies, one truck company, and a Battalion Chief responded to the fire to ensure fire extinguishment and to look for any fire extension.  No injuries were reported to firefighters.

It was determined that the fire was ignited by an RC car battery charger plugged into a wall outlet.
