Sekel sentenced for drive-by homicide

BULLHEAD CITY – Sentence was imposed Wednesday for one of three men who were charged with murder, attempted murder and other charges for a deadly drive-by shooting a year ago in Bullhead City. Kevin Hurtado, 24, was killed and his wife was wounded by gunfire resulting from what had been an ongoing dispute.

Brent Sekel, 24, entered a plea agreement convicting him of lesser offenses, including hindering prosecution and facilitation of a drive-by shooting. Defense attorney Scott Ruffner told the Court that Sekel was not involved in the shooting for which two co-defendants are responsible.

Judge Doug Camacho imposed a 1.5-year prison term, followed by 5 years’ probation.
