Wednesday, April 3, Kingman High School hosted its first track meet of the season at their beautiful new track. The stands were filled with spectators, anxious athletes and screaming fans as the event began. With more than eight different teams in attendance, more volunteers than anyone could count and friends and family on the sidelines this event was one for the books.
Of those many athletes, one of Kingman High School’s very own, Jamal Cash, participated in the night’s events in the Boys’ 110 Meter Hurdles and the Boys’ 300 Meter Hurdles, where he took first place in both. “I’m seventeen and this is my senior year. My plans after senior year are to run track in college. I’ve been running track for three years and I’m originally from Baltimore, Maryland,” says Cash.

The Kingman High School track team will go on to compete for the rest of April in hopes to qualify for state finals May 3 and 4. The next track meets will be as follows: April 10, Lee Williams High School in Kingman, April 13 – Route 66 Invitational at Kingman High School, April 17 – Havasu Last Chance Qualifier in Lake Havasu City, April 23 – Sedona Last Chance Qualifier in Sedona, and State Preliminaries and State Finals May 3 through 4, place to be announced.
Please come out and support the local athletes and cheer them on as they make their way to state.
