Response to Rick Simpson

Dear Editor,

Greetings, Rick Simpson. Still no answer! The question remains the same: why do conservatives think it acceptable people like Bezos, Musk, Trump, and Soros, plus large corporations, get by with paying little to no tax, and it’s fair the rest of us pay for all the governmental programs?

Once again, you have offered no answer. Apparently, conservatives think you can insult the questioner and twist and re-write the subject. Just like most conservatives in Washington who are refusing to express an opinion or reveal any facts (about the Jan. 6, 2021 insurrection), and in Trump’s case his taxes. If it works, “I’ve dodged a bullet.” Must be straight from the conservative propaganda playbook, or it wouldn’t be so rampant.

I am sorry to inform you that these tactics don’t work. You come close when you write, “I never said or indicated in any way that ‘well-offs’ shouldn’t pay their fair share.’” The thing is you also never say they should pay their fair share, nor do you explain why it is acceptable for the rest of us to pay for all the government programs which benefit us all.

Elon Musk recently revealed his tax bill would amount to some 15 billion dollars. I have heard Warren Buffett say he pays less taxes than his secretary. Must be nice! Just think of what could be accomplished with those uncollected funds.

As for the 85,000 new IRS agents, the Patriot Act made sure any transaction over $10,000 has to be reported to the IRS (IRS form 8300) by banking personnel. There was no need to hire thousands of new agents because all bank employees were tasked with executing the plan.

Since there does not appear to be any answers forthcoming, I have to assumed once again I’m correct and thank you for profusely for proving it.
