Pets perish in home fire

KINGMAN – Crews battled a residential structure fire in downtown Kingman on January 31. Kingman fire department personnel responded at 7:25 p.m. to the incident at an intersection of Lead Street and Valley View Avenue.

Public information officer Beth Matthews said firefighters went on the offensive to quickly extinguish the fire.

“Occupants of the residence were not inside when fire personnel arrived,” Matthews said. “No fire personnel or civilian injuries were reported.”

Matthews said two dogs in the home died of smoke inhalation. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
