Lions to offer vets free vision screenings

KINGMAN – The Kingman Mohave Lions Club will be offering free vision screenings at the Veteran’s Resource Fair Friday, January 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Kingman Elks Lodge, 900 Gates Ave. Other opportunities will also be available, including offering free HIV/HCV testing. This event is in lieu of the previous Veterans Stand Down held in Bullhead City. Mosquito fogging Tuesday in Mohave Valley

Mosquito surveillance conducted this week in Mohave Valley by the Mohave County Department of Public Health, Environmental Health Division (MCDPH-EHD) revealed the following locations that met the protocol to conduct mosquito fogging. The MCDPH-EHD uses the CDC’s recommended matrix as a guide of when to fog.

FOGGING: Adult mosquito control application will take place the evening of Tuesday, June 18th, 2024, after 8:00 pm, weather permitting. Baron Pest Solutions was awarded the contract to provide fogging services within Mohave County and will be conducting the ground fogging application.

Fireman takes theft deal

A firefighter accused of stealing roughly $24,000 from the rural Mohave County fire district that formerly employed him pleaded guilty to theft Wednesday. A fraud charge is dismissed through the agreement entered for Phillip Picard, 32. Terms of the misdemeanor conviction deal protect Picard from prison, unless he violates supervised probation.  Mohave County Superior Court Judge Rick Lambert can impose up to a 30-day county jail term at a Nov. 16 sentencing hearing.
