KINGMAN, Ariz. – A Mohave County Superior Court jury deliberated for just 20 minutes before acquitting a Kingman man at his sex offense trial. The panel found Gustavo Olmos, 34, not guilty of one count of sexual abuse on Wednesday, Sept. 16.
Deputy Mohave County Attorney Bridget MacDonald argued that Olmos repeatedly groped the breast of a 15-year-old girl over her clothing during a spring break youth birthday party at his Florence Avenue home.
Defense attorney Lee Novak conceded a touch occurred, but he told the jury that it was non-sexual in nature, and incidental or accidental.
“I’m very happy for Gus. Justice prevailed,” Novak said, after the favorable verdict was returned. He shared that more than one juror indicated that victim credibility issues were a factor in the acquittal.
