North Kingman OIS under investigation

MOHAVE COUNTY – The Lake Havasu City Police Department is conducting an independent investigation of a deadly officer involved shooting (OIS) in Kingman. The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) said deputies responded just before 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 9 to a report that an armed man was pouring gasoline inside a home in the 4700 block of Ty Street.

Agency spokeswoman Anita Mortensen said did not comply with directives to come out of the home.

“When he finally emerged, he pointed a weapon at SWAT members from MCSO and Bullhead City Police Department,” she said. “SWAT members fired their weapon, striking the suspect.”

Mortensen said the man was detained and transported to Kingman Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries. Involved officers have been placed on administrative leave, standard procedure in OIS incidents.
