LAKE HAVASU CITY – Labor Day is normally the holiday that extends its farewells to the summer, however, the Nordic Boat owners Meetup event that occurred over the weekend celebrated the fading season in their own way. The Annual Nordic Boat Owner Meetup took place on Saturday, September 7 at Thompson Bay.

The man responsible for Nordic owner’s third yearly meetup is Trey Ordonez, a former owner of the Phoenix, Arizona boating company River Speed and Marine. Ordonez developed his love for boating while watching Nordic boats being made.

He was drawn to the boat’s style and high-performance capabilities. The past two annual meetups brought about hundreds of other owners of Nordic boats eager to share their passion for speed, water, and socializing with other Nordic fanatics.

Boaters met at Thompson Bay and geared up to race throughout the Colorado River to Pirates Cove in Needles, California for a fun filled day of games, raffles, music provided by a live DJ, and a chance for attendees to vote on the ‘prettiest Nordic Boat.’ The event was free to the public and Ordonez has plans in the works to turn his meetups into a nonprofit that will include other like-minded charitable organizations in Lake Havasu City.

He also created the meetups to bring families together with outdoor recreational activities at the end of each summer.
