KINGMAN — The holiday season officially begins in Kingman with the 19th Annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at Locomotive Park on Saturday, December 6, at 6 p.m.
This beloved annual tradition will once again bring the community together for an evening of holiday cheer as Mayor Ken Watkins joins Santa Claus to light the City’s grand Christmas tree. This year’s celebration will also debut a brand-new addition with the train at Locomotive Park, now illuminated with a spectacular holiday light display synchronized to classic Christmas music.
The new train lighting display was made possible through the generosity of the Kingman Powerhouse Kiwanis Club, which donated $8,000 to bring the project to life. The City also extends a special thank you to local resident Jeff Jarvis, who generously volunteered his time and expertise to design, build and program the synchronized light display that will delight residents and visitors throughout the season.
“This event is a beautiful example of what makes Kingman special,” said Mayor Ken Watkins. “It’s about community, tradition, and the joy of coming together. The new musical light display on the train will make this year’s celebration one to remember.”
After the lighting of the tree and train, families are encouraged to stroll through the Very Merry Street of Lights which will feature a stationary display of dozens of beautifully decorated floats and vehicles lined up on Beale Street in Historic Downtown Kingman. There will be music, trackless train rides, food trucks, and the Mingle Jingle Christmas Bazaar in the Beale Celebrations Event Center. This year’s theme is Gingerbread Lane.
