Mohave County truth in taxation information

MOHAVE COUNTY – Mohave County has prepared its truth in taxation information for the fiscal year 2019-2020 budget in compliance with Arizona Revised Statutes § 42-17107.

According to the 2019 levy limit referenced by the Arizona Department of Revenue Property Tax Oversight Commission (PTOC), Mohave County’s maximum allowable primary property tax rate is $2.4666 and the truth in taxation rate is $1.9084. The County is proposing a rate of $1.9496 which is $0.0412 higher than the truth in taxation rate and $0.5170 less than the maximum allowable rate. The proposed levy for fiscal year 2019-2020 is $37,202,296 which is an increase of $786,179 or 2% above the PTOC truth in taxation amount. This amount is $10,434,025 less than the maximum allowable levy limit.

The proposed tax increase will cause Mohave County’s primary property taxes on a $100,000 home to be $194.96. Without the proposed tax increase, the total taxes that would be owed on a $100,000 home would have been $190.84. The increase is exclusive of increased primary property taxes received from new construction and is also exclusive of any changes that may occur from property tax levies for voter approved bonded indebtedness or budget and tax overrides.

The County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on the proposed fiscal year 2019-2020 budget, tax rates and levies on Monday, August 5, 2019 beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Mohave County Administration Building, 700 W. Beale Street, Kingman, Arizona. All interested citizens are invited to attend.

Mohave County Board of Supervisor meetings are open to the public and can be viewed live through the County’s website at www.mohavecounty.us.
