BULLHEAD CITY – Mohave College Community Education hosted a College for Kids: Magic Milk Science Experiment class in collaboration with the Boys and Girls Club of the Valley Friday, Feb. 27, offering local youth a fun, hands-on science learning experience while showcasing the impact of community partnerships.
Participants created dazzling, swirling color reactions while learning the science behind the experiment. The interactive class encouraged curiosity and creativity while introducing students to STEM concepts in an engaging and accessible way.
“There’s nothing better than sharing a cool hands-on experiment with kids and watching them light up with excitement and curiosity for more STEM learning, it’s the best part of what we do,” said Lori Gunnette, Associate Dean, Community Education at Mohave College.
The program highlights how Mohave College Community Education partners with local organizations to bring enrichment opportunities directly into communities. Host partners provide space and local outreach, while Community Education supplies instructors, manages registration, and keeps programs affordable through nominal fees.
“We work with partners to create customized learning experiences built around what students want to explore and achieve,” Gunnette added. “From single workshops to multi-week programs, we adapt content, age ranges, and formats to fit our partners’ goals, schedule and resources.”
Mohave College Community Education can develop a wide range of enrichment experiences based on student interests. Programs can be hosted at partner locations or on Mohave College campuses to increase access and meet learners where they are. Age ranges, content, and program length are customized to align with partner goals and budgets.
Organizations can collaborate on single workshops, multi-week series, themed experiences, or custom hands-on activities designed to fit their audience, schedule, and available resources.
Following the success of the Magic Milk program, Mohave College Community Education invites schools and community organizations throughout Mohave County to explore after-school programming and future College for Kids partnerships that expand affordable learning opportunities for youth.
