Man killed in Kingman fire has been identified

KINGMAN – Local authorities have released the name of the Kingman man who was killed when his house caught fire late Sunday, March 30. Don Bay, 72, was deceased when located inside his burned home in the 1300 block of Franklin Drive.

Kingman Fire Department (KFD) personnel responded at 11:52 p.m. Arriving crews spotted substantial smoke and flames coming from several windows and the roof in one corner of the residence.

“Given the near-zero visibility, intense smoke, and high heat, thermal imaging cameras were used during both the primary and secondary searches,” said KFD spokesperson Beth Matthews. “A fan was also used to help clear the smoke.”

Matthews said Bay’s body was found in one of the rooms after flames were brought under control.

“We offer ourdeepest sympathies to the family and friends of the individual impacted by this heartbreaking event,” Matthews said. “The cause of the fire is still under investigation.”
