Mammoth business project eyes Kingman

KINGMAN – A Houston, Texas-based company that previously passed on Kingman and later pulled the plug on Casa Grande is once again eyeing northwest Arizona for a huge economic development project. The Mohave Daily News and District 1 Mohave County Sup. Travis Lingenfelter reported and confirmed that Nacero LLC is hunting for a site for a $6 billion zero-sulfur gas processing facility.

“What I’ve been told by their board members is 3,500 construction jobs and then over 500 full time jobs with an average wage of 90 grand. Significant. Huge for Kingman,” Lingenfelter said. “On paper it looks great and I think we would welcome them in Mohave County, but I think it’s still kind of speculative in my mind at this point.”

Lingenfelter noted many project announcements over the years, like the multi-billion data processing center, have either failed or been slow to develop. “You have to be careful not to get too excited about stuff until it happens,” he said.

Lingenfelter said he, Kingman Mayor Jen Miles and others planned to testify Wednesday in support of state legislation providing tax incentives for operations like Nacero that convert natural gas to gasoline.

Lingenfelter said the company is considering the Industrial 40 corridor south of Kingman for the project. The area is home to Griffith Energy and other heavy manufacturing.
